Cannon Clough

Cannon Clough graduated from the University of North Carolina before coaching on the NCAA DI stage at Wofford College and stamping herself as an internationally recognised soccer player. As a Tar Heel, Cannon won the Atlantic Coast Conference title and also made it to the NCAA Championship Final Four.

As a professional, Cannon has solidified herself as one of the elite defenders in the country while playing for the Newcastle Jets FC and after a stellar season for the Brisbane Roar FC in the A-League Women. She is also the Captain of Lions FC in the National Premier League Women and has helped them to two Premier League Championships, a Premiership and an Inaugural Kappa Cup Series win. In what some would say is her most iconic moment, Cannon was selected to represent Queensland for State of Origin, calmly slotting the winning penalty kick in the shoot-out to earn instant legendary status (video below).

Academically, Cannon has garnered academic honours throughout her career. As a freshman, she was a “Perfect Niner” in the classroom earning a 4.0 GPA and also earned Conference USA recognition for her academics as a sophomore. Cannon was also named to the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll. Cannon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Administration with a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Prior to her tenure at UNC, Cannon spent two seasons at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a standout All-State high school player and captain in two sports; soccer and hockey. Awarded as the top overall athletic achiever in her senior high school year, Cannon led her team to the State Championship.
