What to expect when competing in U.S. college water polo: Spring Semester: Water Polo is a spring sport, played in the second half of the U.S. school year. Games are usually played between late January and late April. You can expect to play approximately 25 games in an average season. Fall Semester: The fall semester is the off-season for water polo. You can expect to practice a maximum of 8 hours a week during fall. In addition to training, practice games may be scheduled in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
